This alarm performs as advertised although there was one unexplained time the alarm went off when I did not recall setting arming it but that might have just been my bad memory. Basically, the alarm has one area sensor that has its own built in alarm. After you arm this sensor, it will protect an area as far and as wide as its sensor can detect. I have not tested the distance beyond 15 feet and about 120 degree span but it works inside those limits. When the area sensor goes off, it will trigger the external siren also which you should just consider as an alarm receiver because it has only one function and that is to sound the siren when told to do so by the area sensor or one of the two window/door sensors. I would not want to mount the external alarm outside in the weather because it does not look like it could stand any water. So view the word "external" as a second alarm siren that will go off external to the main area alarm. You are given two remotes that are used to arm and disarm the area sensor. The window/door switches have their own arm and disarm switches and are independent of the area alarm. You have also a panic remote that will trigger the alarm if you press the button. This system also comes with two window/door sensors. The way these gadgets work is that there is a magnetic contact attached to a window breakage sensor with a short (about 1 foot) cable so (as designed) forget about putting the magnetic sensor on a door and the window breakage sensor on a window 5 feet away. You can put the magnetic sensor on window so that it will trigger the external alarm if the window is opened or if the window is hit hard enough (or broken). You can put the magnetic sensor on a door to sense the door being opened but you have no choice but to mount the window breakage sensor also on the door unless the window is within a foot of the edge of the door. In my house there was a door that had a window in it and I could use both the window breakage sensor and the magnetic switch (which triggers if the magnet is removed an inch or so from the companion switch). The window breakage sensor or the magnetic switch will trigger the external alarm siren and therefore (once armed) works independently of the area sensor. The area sensor can be disarmed but the window sensors still left armed. You can set the window/door sensor to operate instantly or after a time delay. So if you mount it on an entry door, put it on delay. That will give you about 7 seconds to open the door find the little bitty disarm switch and successfully disarm it... Good luck with that! You can select some dip switches inside the sensors, remotes, and the external siren to customize the operation frequency so a crook can't use a remote from the same type of alarm system to disarm your alarm. One of the options is a door bell mode in which the alarm sounds something like a bell when someone passes through the area of protection. Once this feature was enabled, I never could seem to disable it with the remotes so I removed that batteries and started over.

I received the security system in just a few days. I am very happy with the purchase. The only negative was that there wasn't an instruction booklet included in the box. But after calling Chumba Deals the nice lady emailed me a copy of a manual so I was able to download it. Over all I am very pleased.

We bought this security system about 6 months ago to work in conjunction with our other security system. I really like having a motion sensor that I can set at night that would detect any motion without being too sensitive. I love that it has a battery backup option in case the power goes out it still does its job. I feel safe with my Strobe Wireless Security System. The few times I have accidentally set it off it without a doubt delivered the most ear piercing alarm and strobe feature.
