Product was as advertised. Easy to install and operate. Out of no where two months in though the brain unit stopped functioning. So if you need a temporary security system then this one is the one for you.

I was looking for a good DIY home security system without monitoring service and after research I found the SC-1000 to be the best value for the money. Positives -Setup was breeze, it was easier to follow Skylink installation video on Youtube than read the manual. The whole setup took about 30 minutes ( including mounting the door sensors). - Farthest Door sensor was about 75 ft away from the central console but had no range issues. - Alarm was LOUD! and the dialer was able to dial out through my VoIP line to my Mobile Negatives - Mouting stickers that come with the unit are useless and mine peeled off within a day ( and triggered the alarm). I replaced them with ones from a local hardware store. - By default all sensors are programmed to dial out through the dialer, remove them and just leave the control panel. Thanks to all the other feedbacks I did this as part of my installation Unknown Not sure how long the batteries are going to last on the sensors! Overall excellent system and am very happy I bought this. I am planning on adding an additional motion sensor and a door/window sensor.

I was disappointed since apparently you need a land line in order to hook up the auto dialer, but other then that it was worth the money.

After reading the reviews of this product, I decided to purchase this with the SC-10. As one reviewer had described you get an extra key transmitter, window/door sensor, external alarm, and at a cost savings. So for just over $200 I combined both products. I also added some additional items, i.e. the water sensors, extra motion detectors. Installation was fairly straightforward. I did have to call support because the antenna on the external alarm unit needed a small trimming to fit inside the unit. Customer service was excellent, they called me back timely, twice. The unit has worked extremely well, and has been tested a couple times. I really like the dialer features, up to 9 calls, and no monitoring fees. I did as other suggested and hid my dialer, placed it in silent operation so you can't hear the dialer/message being delivered. I put the external alarm from the SC-10 on the outside, so I have alarm inside/out, at the same time. I added additional items, easy enough to do. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple to install system, with ability to avoid monitoring fees. My only complaints. The key transmitters look somewhat cheap, bulky, plastic, and not very well labeled. As someone suggested, I used perm markers to color code the keys. The door/window sensors also have a bulky component that gets mounted right up alongside or on your door. I placed mine at the very tops of the door so they are somewhat out of site. They are larger than most sensors you find in wireless systems. For the money spent you can't beat this system, and with the capability of easily adding on to the system, it makes for an excellent home alarm system. If you're in the market for a security system for yourself, click the order button now.

I had my SC-100 for about 6 months when the speaker stopped working, the solder joint on the back of the speaker came off. It's made in China, so I wasn't too surprised, but getting it fixed was a hassle. Customer support offers very little assistance even though it was still under warranty. At this point it's easier for me to buy a new speaker and fix it then to send it in a be without a system for who knows how long. Just something to be aware of if you do have a problem.

It arrived well packed, it was very easy to install, I try several times to arm and disarm it and it was great. Very (I mean very) loud when it goes off. The only problem is that after one week, one day in the morning, when i try to disarm it was dead. I try to replace the batteries but nothing. It never worked again The windows alarms unit work fine so far. Not as loud as the key padded unit but they do what they suppose to do.

It is very easy to install. I just used the sticker enclosed to attach them to wood doors and Vinyl window. The sound is high enough. It does what a $25 alarm suite is supposed to do. I've NO complaints.

My husband deployed and I was going to be all alone in my apartment for a whole year and so I got these for extra safety measures...I live in a one bedroom apartment so these are ideal for small homes...the window alarms aren't too loud but the door alarm is...and they're toy-like..it made me feel safer though because I'd be alerted if someone was breaking into my home.

What kind of metal phillips head screw breaks down while you're trying to screw in the back-plate? So, while trying to undo the mess, the male portion of the plastic backplate broke off... Now, the door unit is useless to me. On the other hand the window units are just fine. I ended up using one of the three window units on my door.

I purchased the GE simon XT security system and installed it myself. I am a licensed master electrician and although I do not install security systems for a living, I am technically inclined. I followed the instructions closely and the system works very well with a few glitches in the programing. The Motion sensors should only activate when they are manually activated when going to bed at night. This should be separate from the doors and windows. If you get up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water the alarm goes off. Also, there should be a delay so that when the motion sensors are activated, you have time to deactivate them prior to the alarm siren. Getting up in the morning I don't have enough time to get across the kitchen to deactivate the system before the siren goes off and I get my ears blasted. I know that the system can be adjusted to eliminate this problem but I cannot get help from GE. When I call their tech support it will not give me a live person to talk with and if you tell it you are a home owner it says to call your professional installer and then hangs up on you. I sent three emails to GE tech support and they never responded. All I need to do is get a simple verbal instruction to set the program since this is not addressed in the instructions. GE simply turns their back on you once they sell you a product. This is not the first time this has happened to me with a GE product. Also, all of the literature with the Simon XT wireless system says that you can use it with alight module to turn your lights on and off remotely or with the control panel. This cannot be done. Apparently, according to the company that supplies the light modules, GE printed their literature prematurely and after production they found that the modules would not work with the transformer supplied with the system. GE went ahead and sold it anyway and just tells everyone that bought it that it doesn't work and they're just out of luck. Too bad, so sad. Shame on you GE!!! I have disconnected my $500.00 system because it doesn't work properly and I cannot get any technical support for simple programing help.

It is easy to install but some times documentation can be daunting to follow. Overall product is reliable and make you feel safe.

The Window/Door sensors are not the most attractive pieces of hardware you've ever seen. The silver terminals on the magnet are exposed instead of hidden within a housing. They do work very well though, which is the most important feature they could have. Be aware that in most of the product photos they do not show you the wire that runs from the "wireless" unit to the magnets, but there is one. It's only wireless back to the main control panel. With some planning you could probably install this with the wire hidden, like in new construction. For those of us with existing door and window frames however it will be hard to completely hide the wire. Also keep in mind that if you keep your windows locked, an intruder will most likely be breaking your window, not just sliding it open. I chose to use these units on my doors and am looking into the vibration sensors for the windows instead, but they might work for your application. I attached a few photos at the top of the page, and you can see where I needed to modify my wooden door trim to get the sensors to sit flat. I used a Dremel to do this, and it wasn't hard but there was not another way for me to mount these and get them to work without modifying the trim around the door frame. Overall they do work very well and I can accept the aesthetics of them for the price I paid.

Install was straight forward. The door where this item was installed used both of the provided spacers to bring the magnet in line with the switch. The only problem was when I encountered a metal door jamb the screws provided broke under what I thought to be only minor force. But after the holes were opened a little more and other screws selected, install went correctly.

I bought this in addition to the Skylink SC-100 Security System Deluxe Kit. Once figured out it works great.

I bought this product about a year ago now and it has been working flawlessly since then. The unit is very easy to install - follow the directions that come with it - it took me about one hour to install the three door sensors (I bought an extra one) and the one motion sensor. I usually use the remote unit to arm / disarm the unit and even after a year of use the batteries do not need replacement. I have yet to install the telephone piece of the kit - the problem I face is that my house has multiple telephone lines and I need to locate the primary one. After a lot of procrastination, I finally decided to get a professional to do this piece of the work. If you have a simple telephone setup this should not be a problem either. I've tested the system randomly during this past year and it has never failed yet. I have had no false alarms of it going off when it should not and have taken long trips with at least some peace of mind. I would certainly recommend this as a very good alternative to all of those expensive alarm systems - and managed to get a 15% reduction in my insurance premium to boot!!
